Levels?

This is a short entry......

I am starting with a new acupuncturist and he is wanting to know some of my hormones levels. Such as...Estrodial, FSH, and LH. Was curious if anyone who has done acupuncture if they needed or has reported their levels to their acupuncturist?

Just was curious. The last lady I went to never asked about these things...so was curious if him asking and wanting to know is a good thing or bad thing?

  1. I can't remember if I've commented here before or not.

My acupuncturist has never asked me about my hormone levels. She treats me strictly on symptoms and signs that my body sends. Since TCM is an old practice, they've never needed Western medicine to treat people. That said, perhaps he's incorporating modern day medicine into his practice? I'm not a professional, just thinking aloud with you.

I would follow your gut with this. If it seems strange or odd, perhaps you can go back to your last person. If you think he has a different approach and you are curious? Than, if I were you, I'd inquire about his intentions.

  2. Thanks! I am going to go to the first session and see what he is all about. Didnt really like the last person. Didnt know much about infertility stuff. This guy is suppose to "specialize" in womens issues. So, we will see. Thanks!

  3. Mine has never asked about levels but has asked about everything else. My guess is they just want to know if there is something more they need to be concentrating on. It's probably not about the exact numbers but just what is high, low, normal, etc. Hope you like this person better than the last :)

  4. Here from Lost and Found...

My acu (well, the most recent one anyway, who specializes in infertility) did ask for my levels. If your new guy is asking, it probably means that he knows what to make of them, which is a good thing.

FWIW, he also carefully tailored his acupuncture and herb treatments to different parts of the cycle, natural or treatment. My previous acupuncturists didn't do that.

    Good luck!

  5. Also here from LFCA! My acupuncturist asked for my levels, too. She spent more time discussing all my various symptoms (she knows more about the details of my period than my RE does, LOL) than she did my levels, but she did ask about them, and knew what they meant.

She's also a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, so she knows her stuff.

Wishing you lots of sticky baby dust!

  6. My acupuncturist, who specializes in fertility, asks for all my test results, and knows what they mean. I'd say it's a good sign. :)
